A $100 excess applies once for each unrelated condition during any one period of cover. For further treatments for a related condition during the same period of cover there is no excess.

Entry-age limit

Over 8 weeks and under 9 years (if you maintain your dog's cover without a break, they can continue to be insured past 9 years of age)

Consultation fees

Examinations of your sick or injured pet by a vet. They include in-hospital examinations, specialist consultations, teleconsultations, house calls (excluding the travel fee) and - if your vet believes they are necessary - after hours emergency consultations.

Prescribed medication

Medication prescribed by your vet for the treatment of a covered accidental injury or illness.

Diagnostic testing

Medical imaging (e.g. X-rays, CT and MRI scans) and laboratory testing (e.g. histopathology and cytology) ordered by your vet to help diagnose and treat a covered accidental injury or illness.

Surgery

Any surgery considered necessary by your vet for a covered accidental injury or illness.

Orthopaedic conditions (Up to $4,000 per period of cover)

An 'orthophaedic condition' is any condition of the bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and joints. (It excludes cruciate ligament conditions, which have a longer waiting period and lower sub-limit).

Cruciate ligament conditions (6-month waiting period and up to $2,600 per period of cover)
Hospitalisation

If medically necessary, treatment at a veterinary hospital, clinic, practice or boarding facility for a covered accidental injury or illness.

Cancer treatments
Tick paralysis (30 day waiting period and up to $1,500 per period of cover)
Snake attacks (2-day waiting period and up to $1,200 per period of cover)

How to get covered

Protect your fur baby with ING Pet Insurance in just a few simple steps.

2. Review and purchase

Review your quote, select policy start date, answer final couple of questions and purchase within 30 days.

3. Policy confirmation

We'll send you your policy documents to review that all is correct. Cover will start on the date you selected.

Your pet named in your policy documents must:

be yours

live primarily at your home address

be over 8 weeks and under 9 years old when first taking out this cover

not be a breed or cross-breed that is restricted or banned from ownership in Australia by any government authority in the state where you live

meet any relevant state or council requirement for registration

not have been declared a dangerous dog by an authorised council officer or local court

not be used for any commercial or occupational purposes (except guide dogs or assistance animals), such as racing, breeding, organised fighting, law enforcement, guarding, security work, gun dog use or pig hunting

Make a claim

Making a claim

Here're some pointers to help with your ING Pet Insurance claim, also available on our 'How to make a claim info sheet':

1. Vet treatment and payment

Once your pet had the much-needed treatment, ask your vet for an itemised invoice and pay it in full.

2. Lodge your claim

Complete and sign the claim form. Send your completed claim form and invoice/s to us:

3. Get your outcome

Within 5 business days of you lodging your claim we'll contact you if more information is needed. On acceptance of your claim, you'll be reimbursed for up to 80% of your eligible vet expenses (benefit limits and an excess may apply) and the money will be deposited into your nominated bank account.

To help process your claim without delay, please make sure you've checked the below:

Claim form has been fully completed prior submission.

All itemised invoices have been included. You may wish to read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) to see what you can claim.

Keep copies of all of your claim documentation for your records.
